Over 100,000 colourful flowers are suspended in the air in the double-decker Saatchi Gallery. The exhibition showcases multi-coloured flora. The flowers hang down from the ceiling and you are able to walk between them and interact with the installation.

Saatchi Gallery – contemporary art in London since 1985

The gallery first opened its doors in the borough of Chelsea in 1985 and has been showcasing contemporary art displays since. The gallery not only has a permanent collection – which is completely free to visit – but also has rotating temporary and seasonal exhibitions.

In 2025 the Saatchi gallery presents ‘Flowers’ – Flora in contemporary art and culture – a brand new exhibition which has moved into the gallery. Here’s everything you need to know about visiting the new display this spring:

Flowers – Flora in contemporary art and culture

Step into a world of Flora and immerse yourself in over 500 exhibits across nine exhibitions rooms and two floors of the Saatchi Gallery. You will not only find classic artworks, paintings, sculptures and clothing designs but also a digital garden, which visitors are able to interact with. As you explore each of the nine different rooms, a combination of physical and digital artwork and media will steal your attention.

The highlight of the exhibition has been designed by Rebecca Louise Law and is the perfect photo spot. In one of the exhibition halls over 100,000 dried flowers are suspended from the ceiling. You are able to walk through the display, creating your own photos in the ensemble of flowers which occupy the space.

French artist Miguel Chevalier designed the digital projection space – otherwise known as the ‘digital flower garden’. The space is equipped with a large digital screen and mirrors. Sit back on one of the benches and enjoy the display or move around in the space. The mirrors create a multi-dimensional effect and provide further photo opportunities.

Planning a visit to ‘Flowers’? Here’s FAQs which will help you:

What are the opening times of the exhibition?

The Saatchi Gallery is open until 18:00 daily. However, please be aware that last entry to the collection ‘Flowers’ is 16:40. The staff will start to close the galleries around 17:45, so please leave enough time to see everything.

How busy does the Saatchi Gallery get?

The Saatchi Gallery is a ‘hidden gem’ in London and doesn’t get too busy. However, I recommend to avoid weekends. If you are visiting during the week, the gallery is quieter towards the end of the day. I entered around 15:00 and stayed until close. During the last 30 minutes the galleries were extremely quiet.

How much is entry to the main collection?

Entry to the main collection at the Saatchi Gallery is completely free of charge and doesn’t require a reservation.

How much does it cost to visit ‘Flowers’? Is it worth the price?

An adult ticket to ‘Flowers’ costs between £18-20. If you are a student, however, a ticket costs only £10. I purchased a student ticket and found the exhibition good value for money – however I found the full price to be expensive.

Where is the gallery and how can I get there?

The galley is located in Chelsea, with nearest tube station Sloane Square. There are direct connections to Paddington via the circle line, or you can also take the district line.

If you are looking to book a ticket for the exhibition, you can do this via the gallery’s website HERE.
